Where Do Demons Come From?

Kevin sat, staring at his computer screen while listening to the track he just made. He couldn’t help wondering how it had been a little over two years now since the demon; he named Damian, had appeared on his sixteenth birthday and taken over most of his life.

Since that day he had worked hard at pursuing his career as a DJ. College wasn’t something he saw in his future, besides; he wouldn’t have the time since he had become the “major” income for him and his mother. It was something he was fine with. What he wasn’t fine with was the demon that kept throwing Skittles at his head, trying to get his attention.

He had learned that there were a few rules demons had to follow. One rule was that a demon could not touch their case without the flames of hell firing onto the demon and burning them. However, a case would touch the demon they were bound to. A demon’s “case” is the mortal they are assigned to. Once assigned to a case, a demon is to take that mortals soul and devour his or her soul. The only way to get a case’s soul is to have them admit to themselves they are a great sin that goes against the Lord’s law.

Unable to take the annoyance coming from behind, Kevin whipped around and launched an orange, which was sitting on his desk, at the demon. “Knock it off, I’m trying to work!” Kevin could usually put up with the demon most days but, due to the lack of sleep he had gotten lately, he had really gotten to him. Damian grinned and leaned forward, “what ever do you mean dear boy?” Kevin turned his back to him and tried to focus back on his work, “Why don’t you go back to where you came from?” Cocking his head to the side, Damian looked at him and asked, “Do you even know where demons come from?” What a stupid question, Kevin thought, “From hell?” he answered. The demon leaned back and burst out laughing at the boy’s ignorance. “And do tell me, boy, where is hell?” Kevin turned and looked at the demon with a look of confusion and pointed down at the floor, “down below?”  The demon sneered, “wrong”, he exclaimed, “Want to know the truth?” Kevin couldn’t help his interest being perked. Leaned back in his chair and looked at him and asked, “Okay, where then?”

Damian then sat up and looked at him with his finger pointed up to the ceiling and said, “A whole nother galaxy light-years from this one.” Kevin looked at him and rolled his eyes, “right”, he said sarcastically, “a whole nother galaxy, that’s ‘bull’ and you know it.” A little taken back, Damian leaned forward and narrowed his eyes at the boy sitting in the office chair, “Tell me now, how would you know better then me?” He then snorted and looked at the goat’s reaction. Kevin had started digging around for his bible. Damian snorted, “So you believe everything that’s in that book written by man?” In the blink of an eye, Damian was right next to him with his face inches from Kevin’s, “Don’t be a fool, Kevin, that believes all things that good people tell them. Even good people taste false words on their tongue.”
